When I first got my iTouch, it showed the sync to iTunes image so I did, and my computer never recognized that it was plugged in. I had to get the new version of iTunes, and it worked. But even now, sometimes it wont recognize my ipod is plugged in. Its plugged in to a USB 2.0 port every time, on a windows XP computer with SP2. What could be going wrong?

Well have you tried restarting the computer. Basically sometime iTunes can only pick up the iPod if Ituneshelper.exe is running the background. Restarting Windows sould fix this problem. If this does not you have to be the only one logged in on the computer. If there are more than one person logged in at one time iTunes will not recognise it.

    Hope this helps

The only way I can get it to work is restarting, that helps, thanks. But 1 question, why would "Ituneshelper.exe" not be running when iTunes is opened and my computers done booting?

Edit: I found Itunes Helper and put it in the startup folder. That should fix the problem right?
