    Hello all,
Newbie here. Just got my first IPOD. It's an 8 gig touch and I love it. Now my question. I have a fairly large music library with about 40 gigs of mp3's. Now when I add them to my Itunes library it also copied them in my Itunes folder. Thats alot of hard drive space taken up. I don't want to delete my music folder because I use media player alot. Is it necessary to keep the files copied in the I tunes library? Thanks all.

You can select manually manage music and keep them wherever you like. Mine is over 200gb and I keep my iTunes library on an external drive.

Thanks for the response. I do have an external drive so I guess that's an option. I would guess that the only time I would need to access the I tunes library is when I would be adding to the Ipod, correct? Thanks again.
