How did you get the music on your ipod in the first place?
    iSlsk? Another iTunes library?
The only way to get the music off your ipod directly to itunes is if your downloaded it from itunes.

just "manual manage" your media in iTunes and drag the islsk music to iTunes.
then go to preferences or something like that and click on "manage iTunes music folder" or something.

Export your library and save it as a xml file somewhere on your comp.
then when you want it back, go > import > select the xml file you saved.
