Reconnect iPod, restart iPod? Restart computer?

    Have you tried those?

If the above suggestions don't work (they should), try reinstalling iTunes.

    Same Here...

It's real easy. So first thing you need to visit this website:
http://ihacktouch.wetpaint.com/page/Installing iPod Touch File Browsers on Mac and Windows
and learn how to setup an iPod Touch file browser. If you already have one (WinSCP works too) then skip that step.

Navigate to var (its at the bottom). Then under the var category click root. Under Root choose Media. Then Right-Click "iTunes_Control" folder and select delete (also just selecting and clicking delete on keyboard works). Next if your firmware 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 go back to var. Under var select mobile. Then choose Media. Then right-click "iTunes_Control" folder and select delete (also just selecting and clicking delete on keyboard works).

After your complete click sleep/wake button at the top and then unplug your iPod Touch from the computer. Plug it in and wait until iTunes start. Then it will give you the choice of either starting from backup or starting as new iPod. Select starting from backup. If you tried this on a different computer it won't give you a choice and you will have to "Set Up Your iPod". That works too...I just tried.

If you found this useful please add to my reputation by clicking the wierd white little sign under my user account to the left of this post. It's the button in the middle. THIS MUST WORK...THERE'S NO WAY IT CAN'T...UNLESS YOUR A TOTAL IDIOT AND CAN'T FOLLOW MY EXTREMELY SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS.

if its a problem after installing something like iphone pcsuite or someting like that, the solution has been posted many times on here. you need to delete the iTunes_Control folder, reconnect to iTunes and setup as a backup
