My iPod touch 3G was on 3.1.2 and jailbroken. I downloaded a 4.0 firmware ipsw file and shift clicked the restore button in iTunes and it "restored" to 4.0. It synced my apps (including the ones I had deleted long ago) but it didn't sync any of my music, videos, or photos. Now it says it can't read the contents, duplicate files were specified, etc. PLEASE does anyone know how to solve this problem? Thank you.

Just to be more clear, is it like you open the music application and it says there is no music?

Exactly. Same with the Videos and Photos apps.

Edit: I re-restored it and now apps won't install either. Although it says they're installing really fast. And in iTunes, in the apps page for my iPod, some of it is there twice next to each other as in this image:

Jailbreaking fixed the problem. I have no idea why. I jailbroke and synced, and it worked fine.

Edit: And now it's giving errors again. Also, every time I plug it in, it thinks it's a new iPod and wants me to set it up again. And every app crashes now too.
