I have tried using the 64 bit version of itunes on windows 7 64 bit. What I noticed immediately was that windows 7 installed it under the x86 program folders. When I am running iTunes it freezes ALL the time making it completely useless. Especially when I am downloading...it simply stops downloading and stops responding. Does anyone have a fix for these issues or am I on my own till M$ starts releasing some updates. My iPod touch 2G stuffs up and its currently been resotred with my next doors pc but how can i fix this when i install itunes it installs in "C:\Program Files (x86)"
when it supose to install in "C:\Program Files"

Not a legitimate fix, but it does work better: Try the zune software. It's nice looking, and it works so much better on Windows (especially 7).

Why would he try the zune software if he has an iPod and not a Zune.

The folder is (x86) for a reason, its still a 32bit app but with 64bit drivers, hence the folder name.

I'm running 64bit win7 with iTunes and all works great, i know this doesn't help you much but at least it proves iTunes is happy on a win7 64bit platform.

If all your other apps are ok on win7 it sounds like iTunes install isn't healthy.

if you downloaded the actual x64 installer from iTunes it should work fine

Edit: Also Win7 has a nice fix my PC errors tool in the tray, give it a shot.

Its Apples fault not Microsoft's. There 32bit mode works fine for all other applications, just not iTunes.
