No, it has not been fixed.

Has anyone been having a problem in Snow Leopard where Software Update won't find any iTunes updates? I'm running 10.6.3 on a hackintosh and iTunes says there is an update avaiable, I click update, and it opens Software Update, and then it says no updates avaiable.

I think that's because it's a hackintosh. I also have a hackintosh and I had to manually download iTunes 9.1 to upgrade from 9.0...

Do you have USB 2.0? Do you get a message saying the device can perform faster when you plug it in?

Also, you don't really "update iTunes" on an iPod. You update the firmware to the latest and the iPod app gets updated with it.
