The editorial about the quality of Cydia got me thinking. Instead of just making a quality source for Cydia why don't we make our own Package Manager. We could use Icy as a base since it has been discontinued, and is now open source, and we could create a new Cydia. What do you think?

    An iPtF package manager? No.

All alternative managers have failed. We'll stick to daconcerror's repo for now.

I think that would be a good idea. It's just a matter of personal opinion and ability... There's probably plenty of people who would be able to take the Icy source code and make a good, reliable alternative to Cydia. As Shawa said, all the alternative package managers have, yes, generally failed. But they all were good things with a few drawbacks pulling theme down. With a group of dedicated people working on something like this, well, it could have some great potential. I would say go for it, find some people willing to work on this. If I had any coding knowledge besides C++ and VB I would do it myself.
