This is a discussion thread for the "It's Official: iPhone 5 Launch Day is Finally Here" story posted on the front page.
Been posted outside of the AT&T store since 3:30... I got 2nd in line !! Sad part is its only 5 am... 3 more hours to kill..
Wow - I live in a 65000 person town in the UK, and earlier iPhone releases had queues (especially when o2 were sole provider) but the o2 store had 3 people inside, and no queues - in fact they had more staff than customers, and the T-Mobile shop didn't look to have had anyone in. The barriers to create a line looked pitiful, and this was 30 minutes after they opened so I assume everyone just orders online, or people aren't that bothered about it. I also think that 24 month contracts that have become standard mean that most people eligible for an upgrade will be iPhone 4 users (who suffered with Antennagate) and might not be interested in it.
