The 3.0 beta sucks. I downloaded firmware 2.2.1 for my iPod touch, and I put my device in DFU mode. I shift+click "Restore", and I get error 1604.

    How do I fix this?

I think you're not doing the DFU mode right, that's usually the case with error 1604.

Try getting the timing more precise. Good Luck!

    I'm 100% sure I did it correctly.

I'm no expert on this problem so all that I have to say here is keep trying until you get it right, who know, a miracle might just happen!

You have no choice but to wait for the official release of 3.0, when you'll need to buy it.

I did it first try easily.
Just hold home and power untill it turns black , and then when it does let go of power after like 3 seconds , it should work.

I know how to put it in DFU mode. The problem still persists.

I got a similar error, so while it was in DFU mode I went through the jailbreak process (patch then restore to a pwnd software) and all went well
