Ok, first of all, I am not a retard. I've been jailbreaking iPods for a while and I know how to DFU/restore.

So basically, this morning, I was using my iPod and it randomly rebooted. Then it wouldn't turn on no matter what, so I put it into DFU mode (it's the black screen) connected it to iTunes, and iTunes told me to restore it so I did. I had my SHSH saved on Cydia and already configured the hosts file. I've also previously done a restore to 3.1.2 (when it wasn't signed anymore) and it worked fine. When it was almost to the point where it was copying the files, it stopped at "Waiting for iPod" and the iPod showed the progress bar with no progress. Then after about half an hour I figured that something was wrong so I pulled it out and now whenever I try to restore it's always stuck at "waiting for iPod". I've tried reinstalling the drivers, rebooting my computer, reinstalling itunes, recovery mode, trying on different computers, everything but still nothing works.

Any ideas, or am I going have to return this to apple and be stuck on 3.1.3 without a jailbreak?

nvm, have you tried downloading an old version of itunes? to see if it detects that it is there?

I don't think it's the itunes problem because it worked fine before, but I could try it.
I've tried on windows 7 and mac os. Blackra1n still works but it gets stuck on geohot's picture.

Did you run blackra1n in Admin mode? Also, iTunes in admin mode?

Have you tried DFU mode again after the normal restores failed?

I've tried the 3.1.3 firmware and restored my original hosts file but it still stops at "waiting for ipod".
