Well, if all your apps and music are on one computer, it'd just be a matter of syncing the iPhone with your library.
As for app data, I'm not exactly sure as you can't restore an iPod backup to an iPhone... at least I think you can't.

    You just Sync.
It's a little obvious. You just won't be able to keep any data.

Thanks.. I was hoping it would be as easy as that, but from my experience nothing tends to be!!

I was more concerned about the apps as I've brought quite a few for the itouch and didn't want it to be limited to the one device.

depends on what data you mean?

keep in mind if you upgrade the touch to 3.0 you can sync notes, apps sync, photos and videos sync. My music library is too large to sync so I just pick and choose anyway as I keep copies of all my CDs (I have over 500 cd's Ive collected from other DJs as well as what I buy) and all my vinyl I rip to mp3.

I want to do the same thing, problem is there is one app that has data that I use very regularly called carstat I would love to be able to back up it's data as I plan to do this same thing. Is there a way I can back up the data for it in jailbroken and put it back when the 3GS is jail broken?
