    Hi, A quick question. I have the latest iTouch which is a brilliant bit of kit. My daughter has a slightly older version, not the original but the middle one... if you understand...

    Anyway, when she turns the volume up or down it switches off the itouch?? This has been happening for a month or so now. I've tried restoring it without any success.

    Any ideas?

    Maybe she's downloaded Activator but I suppose that wouldn't be it because of the restore ! .. Maybe somethings went wrong within the iPods files ? .. Try SSHing into your iPod and checking the files !..

    @other guys:
    forget about jailbreaking and stuff

    @brenchk (OP):
    this issue is because the iPod Touch 2G is broken inside. The volume buttons and the power button are connected to the mainboard using one single flat-cable. So if there is an issue with volume buttons turning off the iPod or vice versa (power = volume changes) it is because of a short-circuit in this single cable.

    //EDIT: I know this because I had many iPod Touches/iPhones in for repair because of these issues

    Go for repair or replacement in warranty if available
