will jailbreaking work on an 8gb 3g touch like the other models or does it have to be tethered or something and what does tethered mean

It'll be tethered. A tethered jailbreak means that whenever you turn off/restart or your iPod dies, you'll need to run blackra1n (the jailbreak program) to turn it back on, with no loss of data.

Yes.. that's what I said. You'll need plug it in and run blackra1n to turn it back on. It's for all 3G models.

Yeah but don't worry you can just have it in stand by/sleep mode.

Yes it can charge in Stand by/sleep mode and i don't know how exaclty long the battery life stands like that but it lasts a long time you'll actually think your iPods off.

sleep is the best way to go. you will waste more battery with turning it on and off
