hello, my itouch with 3.1.2 firmware that I jailbroke with blackra1n, gets bricked everytime I turn it off. Fortunately, I can just plug it in and run blackra1n again and it will come out of recovery mode. But this is annoying and I was wondering if there is a way to not get it bricked if you turn it off? Thanks!

It's not bricked. That's called tethered. Since you have the latest iPod touch with the new bootrom it will be like that till an untethered jailbreak comes out.

Yeah. It looks like you're new here, so welcome! I'd also advise you in the future to use both google, and the search function built in here to ask questions at first. But it's ok.
