Alright guys I've tried the following method:
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42102

    And i have read this:
    http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55285

This where I got: iTouch 2G
I got into DFU mode fine
iTunes recognizes its in recovery mode
So I try to click restore using the fresh firmware I downloaded from the apple site. (while holding shift)

"ERROR 1618 or Error 9" The ipod seems to just shutdown partway through.

Then it tried to just click restore without holding down shift to use the firmware I already have.

iTunes cannot find the firmware for this ipod Please update iTunes.

    History of the ipod itself
Jailbroken 24 hours ago, bought around 3 days ago.
Ipod mysteriously crashes while switching to a theme I had once used.

    What should I do?
Try to recover using other methods or use the 3year apple warranty if thats possible with whats on it.

Just plain restore, no shift-click. Bricked mine and that worked for me.

When will people start learning it isn't very safe to jailbreak your Itouch unless you know what you are doing. I'm tired of seeing posts like these of people saying they bricked their Ipods. I would alot rather see posts about new discoveries and fun things to do with the Ipod Touch 2g

This is the 6th ipod I've jailbroken plus I did mine 3 times... So think about things before you jump to conclusions.

im stuck too man....i was finished with the last step, setting up my new ipod and i clicked back up with "gballa" and the ipod dissappeared and now I have everything in terminal 4 times. Each time itunes says preparing ipod for restore, but stays like that forever. This is so gay, I had it dammit!

    THAT IS AN iTouch

It recognizes it BUT I do a restore and part way through the ipod just restarts which then i have to go into DFU and I try again.

Do i need to show a video of where it fails?

While its restoring the ipod restarts several times as the ipod prepares to restore but when it actually starts to write the firmware the ipod just turns off and goes back to a unrecognizable device/not in DFU mode.
