After Jailbreaking without any Problems I've installed vnsea Stumbler an some other stuff.
After logging in with ssh and changing the password the trouble begins:
There is that white ring in the middle and the SpringBoard and ptpd
are causing crashes in the general.log about every 2-3 seconds!!
The springboard then shortly disappears and comes back!

    2008-04-05 22:19:33 +0200,109,------,6,ptpd,0x00000102, 0x3099bc0e
So know my itouch doesn't reconnect to Itunes.
Is there a way to stop the ptpd deamon with ssh to check if this is the problem.
With the uictl there is not enough time to touch the application scroll down and stop the daemon before it crashes again.
I Can work with the ssh witout any problems.

The badest mistak you've made is to change the password for ssh.
I think there is no other solution to restore it.
Try to set the iPod Touch in DFU Mode and reconnect it to iTunes. Restore it and re-Jailbreak it.
!!!!!BUT NEVER CHANGE THE SSH PASSWORD!!!!!

hold down power and home until your ipod shuts off, at that point let go of power and keep holding the home button

then (while still holding home) plug into your comp

this will bring it into recovery mode

post back if that doesnt work

tried it 2 times without access.
Is it possible that the ptpd is responible for the usb connection?
And therefore i assume it doesn't connect to the PC.

    Any suggestions.
How to stop the ptpd deamon ?

    option 2:
have it already connected to the computer
hold both buttons for exactly 10 seconds, no matter what happens
at the count of ten let go of the power button but hold home

.... There is no way a software glitch can prevent this

Uh...thanks people, I had exactly the same problem, and was able to get the iPod going again.
Does this mean that jailbreaking the iPod leaves root SSH access simply available for everybody who knows the default alpine password?
