This just started happening a couple days ago and I have overslept a bit because my ipod touch's alarm doesn't make noise anymore when it goes off! The typical alarm message pops up but the sound is definitely not working.

Now I know when it DOES make sound it's really quiet, that's why I plug it into these speakers to wake myself up with...the sound in the ipod itself still works because when i go in to choose what type of alarm i want it makes the sound, but when it comes to the alarm going off it does not give out the sound...anyways, does anyone have the answer to this one?

    Thanks in advance!

The iPod speaker reminds me of an 80's game. You sure you selected some sort of alarm sound and not 'none' under "sounds" ?

The solution (or workaround) to the problem can be found here:

Looks like the issue is very common, including mine it turns out.

"I had the same issue...here is what I did to fix it:

    1) Hold down the lock button (top of unit) until the red power off slider appears on screen. Turn off the unit using this slider.

    2) after several seconds, press the lock button again to power the unit back up.

    3) in Settings/General/Sound Effects verify that "Both" is selected (it probably is).

    4) Set a timer for one minute and start it.

    5) At the end of one minute, the selected timer alarm should be heard without headphones.

Actually i should thank you, as i would've have known there was an issue until i set it one night and slept through something important!

I've tried it, and if you have your alarm set daily just get into the habit of fully turning off the touch and restarting before you go to bed...no need to do the other steps there.
