Islate ONLY an e-book reader? They have let us down before...

    We all want a snow lepeor OS on the islate. I think personally that apple will make the islate only an ebook reader. Why? First because remember when apple said any notebook (touchscreen tablet or not) that they make would be crap. Also apple just loves to let us down on touchscreen devices. iPod touch 3g? Who wanted a camera? Who wanted even a MIC? IPhone 3gs we all wanted new things for it, but alls we got was voice control and speed. But zero hardware changes.

    Apple also will want to get in on competition with the Amazon Kindle. I think they see a big market there.

    Personally I would definateley not buy that.

    What's your thoughts?

    Um... We got a huge speed jump from the 2G to the 3G, a huge hardware change, plus we got voice control, which is hardware. And just because you were disappointed doesn't mean we all were, I happen to love my 3G.

    And, no, apple would not make it just an ebook reader, it would be such a waste for them, they would much rather make it a combination between the iPod touch and a macbook. It would sell a lot better.

    I agree with nickswitz. If it was just an ebook reader, i would be extremely surprised.

    We do? I thought quite a few of us are looking forward to something in between SL and the iPhone OS?

    When did they say that? Link?

    So the better processor and increased amount of RAM isn't hardware?

    If Apple wants to compete with the Kindle, surely they will create a product that can do much more. I can't foresee Apple, after all this publicity and speculation, to create just an e-book reader. E-Book readers are too "boring" for Apple.

    Will the "iSlate" have such functionality? Most likely, but with a slew of other features.

    1. I think the iSlate is a ugly name
    2. I think the rumored mac tablet is going to be a epic fail.
    3. I hate all the hype.
    4. I really doubt it would have SL or iPhone OS.

    I agree with this, except for #2. There are enough fanboys that need the newest shiniest Apple device immediately.
