Heard about these two apps some time ago and I was wondering if they are still coming. To me it could be some of the most important apps on the ipod, so I really hope they're still coming

it'd be a damn shame if those great ideas never materialize...

VNC is already available through different apps with the SDK, Teleport and Mocha VNC.

Firefox, at least to my knowledge, won't be coming anytime soon. It'd take Mozilla and Apple partnering which is oh so unlikely

In any case, the iPoT and iPhone already have Safari browsers. Having a mobile FireFox would do Apple no good in terms of sales. Their policy requires of you that your Application in no way changes the functions of the iPoT or the iPhone. However, Apple does not wish your Application to exceed the functions of their original product, so as their sales would diminish.

Firefox will most likely never be released.

    Toodles, Fehr.

Surely both Apple and Mozilla will benefit?

For instance, Apple receives their $99 and 30% cut of sales, Mozilla get their money from sales.

In no way would a 3rd party application crafted for an iPod touch or iPhone diminish sales for iPod touches and iPhones.

Well yeah, but that's not good for Apple to see that Safari is going to be neglected on their device. Main reason you don't see VLC, WMP, or any of those on the iDevices.

Normal Firefox is free, so Mozilla won't charge if it does get to the App Store. Also why would apply allowing a mobile version of Firefox affect their sales? Safari is a standard app with all iPod Touch's and iPhone's so how would their sales diminish?

only reason i would use firefox is because they will probaly have offioial plugins, themes and stuff like that cause safari isnt alow to get modifies on a jailed device
