Well I finally unlocked my iPhone on Monday, and it was jail broken with Spirit. It was a brand new sealed iPhone, but when turning it on, it didn't stay at the emergency call screen, but went into the iPhone menus, and just said waiting for activation. As this happened, when I unlocked the iPhone, and put my T-mobile sim inside, and turned on the iPhone, the iPhone reported that the activation was successful.

Sounds to me like you were lucky. I have unlocked mine and it took a few minutes. But i tried with a friends and it has been waiting for a couple days to activate.

You say yours activated with a T-Mobile sim?

    Yep...
I inserted T-Mobile sim, then in 2 minutes, it said, your device is now activated.
