Hi, I'm on a sort of a tight budget, especially if I pay 180$+ for an iPod touch 8GB 3G, so I'm looking for a way to get free music.

I have a friend who does this and I'm wondering if it's legal. He says sets the settings so that he can record the sound in his computer on his Mac, and plays songs on youtube. He records and stops it when it finishes. He puts it into iTunes from Garageband and then puts it on his iPod.

If it isn't legal, do you guys know anyway to get free music? All I need are several songs that will entertain me while I save up for money to buy more songs.
