Hey I'm a noob at this, first time trying to jailbreak. I'm nervous to do it because I think quickpwn would be the easiest for me but when I went to their website it says they haven't released the quickpwn jailbreak for 2cnd gen 2.2.1 . Also I have sh*tty vista and there seems to be complications with that? I know you guys will probably hate me for asking but I'm looking for the easiest way to jailbreak so I can have cydia and installer.

    Please & thank you!

You should use quickfreedom. All you need to do with that is install Libusb (the software has that option already) and then just get the regular firmware and then get the custom firmware.

And by the way i have vista also. And it was really easy.

    this video helped me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h2Puj_61rQ

    2G Jailbreak

with the methods for the 2g you will only get cydia although you can download installer from cydia.
the easiest way to do jailbreak the ipod touch 2g i think is by redsn0w
    http://redsn0w.com/
the directions to use it are in the README file included but if you want me to tell you it is to connect your ipod to the computer,
double click the command line applications in the folder
    press enter
follow the onscreen directions on how to put your ipod into dfu mode
then it will say dfu mode sucess
wait like 5 minutes and you will have cydia on your ipod
all your data will still be on your ipod when your done (music, vids, and i think apps too)

to get icy(which is installer 5) you got to add the source http://apt.ripdev.com
then search icy in the search menu in cydia
    install it
    and your done!

thanks guys. i will look into it. i am such a noob and i have a few more questions if anyone is willing to help me...

    1. does jailbreaking delete all the content from your ipod? (like apps, music, etc?)
    2. do i still use itunes and such the same way as before?
    3. is there anything i have to do BEFORE i start the jailbreaking process? i updated my itouch to 2.2.1 but do i need firmware or something? (edit: yea, I should read replies more carefully!)

seriously i feel like a retard but i just don't want to f*** up my itouch lol

    1. If you use redsn0w it wont.
    2. Yes
    3. If you use redsno0w that's all you need. Redsn0w takes care of everything for you, no need to download any additional firmware.

Maybe it's in rar format? I can't remember. Get WinRAR to extract it.

No you don't. Use the link I put up, the last one wasn't a good one. It's free to try.
