    Hello.

I have an iPod touch at the moment, (1st gen, if you needed to know).

Now, I MAY be getting an iPhone 3G at around March.

I have soo many contacts on my iPod touch, and when I get my iPhone, I'll want those contacts on it.

Is there a way to make this happen?
Do I just restore my new iPhone to my iPod touch backup?
If that's not possible, is there another way?

I've searched; and haven't found a thread, so please excuse me if this has already been posted, I apologize.

    Thanks!

Sync with Microsoft Outlook so your contacts are transferred to your PC (select the option in iTunes) and then resync transferring contacts from Outlook when you get your iPhone...

Oh okay, I don't think I have Outlook.

Is there a way to use SSH to put my contacts out of my Touch and into my iPhone?

Sync your contacts to Google address book. Then sync to iPhone.

    Sync your contacts to
Microsoft outlook, Windows Address book, Address Book on mac, and I think any contacts thing you have
    Maybe thunderbird might even work?
    Other sync with google
or use google to find a way to get it out with SSH I know there is a way

SSH to /var/Mobile/Library and then backup the "AddressBook" folder. It goes back in the same place for your iPhone

I have a question that is related. I'm going to jailbreak my friend's iPod touch today and he has a ton of contacts and does not want to lose them. If I SSH into it and copy the Address Book to his computer, will that work so I can just put them back in his iPod?

Well if the iPod is not jailbroken, you can't SSH into it can you? Your best bet would be Syncing contacts through whatever way you find the easiest.

For all you people googling this question, bump is the easiest way to do this. It's a free app and it is quick.
