    Backup Basics

Did you mean a full backup of all apps and settings before upgrading/restoring/pwning/jailbreaking? I've seen a few suggestions (AptBackup, pkgbackup, Chronus, etc.), but apparently these backup tools don't work for everything -- native ipod apps (like safari and notes) and jailbroken apps -- using one backup tool alone! It seems most people use a combination of apps and steps to get everything backed up.

There are detailed backup guides somewhere on this site and on other sites (ask if you can't find them), but this seems to be the core of the process:

Pkgbackup: Backs up all cydia packages
Aptbackup: Backs up all app store apps
Chronus: Backs up all native ipod apps like safari, weather, notes, calender.
With these three apps, you can backup and restore an ipod/iphone while setting up the ipod/iphone as new. But even after using these three apps, you might have to SSH a few files that these apps don't backup, depending on what you have installed.

Not to an .ipsw but you can SSH into it and drag every file in there to your desktop.
Although, i see no point in that..
