I am going to buy an iPhone 4. I was wondering if it is definitely jailbreakable. I know that Geohot has an iboot exploit but could Apple have patched it? Could Apple have searched for a hole and patched it which would make the iboot exploit that geohot is going to use for the new iPhone patched? So my question is. Is the iPhone 4 definitely jailbreakable.

    It will be, yes.
You cant 'patch' a bootrom exploit.

I guess, just try and get the iphone as quick as possible, not the newer ones.
they wont bin loads and loads, just sell them and then make slightly altered ones.

Just for the record guys before you mix things anymore than already are

iboot exploit: is not a hardware exploit can (and will) be patched with software/firmwares
bootrom exploit: cannot be patched with software aka hardware vulnerability

Both geohot and chronic dev team have an iboot exploit ready, waiting for the iPhone 4 release. Also they have supposedly a bootrom! exploit on the works, still in very early development yet.

ok i thought they were the same thank you for telling me that. does openiboot require bootrom or iboot? and what is the difference between userland and iboot?

iboot resides on a lower level than userland, ad allows for more things like boot logos (i think) and it is technically harder to patch

I think that openiboot requires bootrom exploit
