Everything Apple will do in their second generation was possible to be done in the iPad Mini 1st gen. Apple rushed the first gen to try and compete in the 7 inch tablet market and make some quick money for Christmas. They knew it would sell well even though it does have the lower res screen and not the best hardware specs and without implementing the retina display and improved chips they have maximised their profits.

I can definetly see the 2nd gen coming around April with a massively improved product. It's just what they do, that's why I never buy a first gen Apple product.

I always buy a second generation of any product. No matter how good the first gen is.

Apple's greatest strength is that they only put out one of each product a year. They'd be wise not to drop that strength, even if they've already broken it once (iPad 3/4)
