I have noticed since Facebook started using push that I get them at times I thought wifi should be off therefore likely draining my battery more then it should.

Today I went for a walk hit play on my first gen iPod then locked the screen never even turned on the screen to skip or anything so wifi should of been off less then a minute after I left. Either way half a hour later a couple seconds after getting in range of my wifi my music paused for a second so I could hear the beep of a new push message.

Is this normal? This seems good but can drain the battery since I spend a lot of time away from wifi.

I have confirmed that Insomnia is turned off and there is no wifi signal bars for a few seconds after I turn on the screen like it is just turning on.

I know that but it should not keep wifi running on a iPod Touch when the screen is off. Only iPhones are supposed to be constant internet connections. Some IM push apps I used along time ago but no longer use would not do this and catch up after I turned the screen on.
