I've never ahd one of my ipods jailbroken and i was just wondering if it is really worth it? like i realize all the perks you get with jailbreaking but i want a few reasons why it's worth jailbreaking your ipod.

EDIT: So as i see it I have, 4 for yes, 1 for no, and 1 for undecided. I'm going to have to go with yes.

    Hell yeah.

One main reason: You can use your device the way YOU want to, not how Apple does.

I have an iPod Touch 2G 16GB and I jailbroke it about a month after getting it. It is totally worth it. Once I get my 4G, its going to be jailbroken in under 10 minutes

    Hell No!

Your device becomes unstable if you install themes and most of the tweaks
are not worth the battery drain or the lag. If you used to a unjailbroken device
you can't go back fresh is the best.

    It's well worth it.
You get to sort all the small inconveniences associated with iOS, there's many many useful tools around, and you get to generally do whatever you want with it.
Of course, if you don't like it then you can always restore and leave absolutely 0 trace of JBing.
As for instability I never experienced any, but then again I haven't installed WinterBoard.

    Shaquille,
Please explain further your claims about "battery drain" and "lag". Back it up with examples please. I have jailbroken several itouch/iphones and I did not encounter such....

To be honest, Shaquille is probably running background apps that burn his batter down. Which may lead him to believe that since he jailbroke it that the battery life would be draining faster.

SBsettings: Sometimes it not respond or causes some lag to the springboard.
Winterboard: Uses more RAM than the way Apple does it.
Frash: Safari no longer opens for me and if it opens a website I see some
lag on mine device so I don't recommended to jailbreak for this.
iFile: I edited some .plists hacks and I came in safe mode.
RenameII: Makes the springboard lags and became unstable.
MakeItMine: Useless app and I saw some lag when changing mine name.
Mxtube: The only good app but I use Mitube from the AppStore it does the same and haves the same layout.

Honestly, if you find that your device is fine the way it is, leave it. You should do some research to see what you can do after jailbreaking, then if there's something that you'll need, jailbreak.

SBSettings never didn't respond to me, feeling no lag at all.
Winterboard uses like 5MB RAM and I got 120MB free with it. Who cares?
Frash is in alpha state. Why are you using it anyways?
iFile works fine, if you're failing editing system files, your problem.
MakeItMine simply cannot make your SB lag because it edits the N72AP.plist in your SpringBoard.app. The "iPod" is the default string for the device-name key, MIM edits it.

    So, all useless facts.

Plus, I don't have any of the above installed and I have been jailbroken since early last year. No problems whatsoever. I only have one thing installed from Cydia and its something I can't mention because I got a 1 day ban last time I said it.
