    no its not illegal,once you bought the iphone/ipod touch it is entirely your property you can do whatever you want with it, apple just want you to believe that it's illegal ...

    As has been said, it is not illegal.
    It does however violate the end-user agreement with apple, which will destroy your warrenty.
    You can fix that with a restore though.

    Jailbreaking isn't illegal (at all).

    Piracy, on the other hand, is. Basically, piracy = stealing, stealing = bad/illegal.
