    Hello.

I just got the 3gs and was wondering what you guys or gals think about the jailbreak.

Do you think it is worth the risk and possible headaches or does leaving the phone stock more advantageous?

Advantages and disadvantages would be appreciated.

    thank you

I have my phone Jailbroken, Just in case I want something from Cydia... I wouldn't have to take the time to go jailbreak it. However, barely use anything on it. I don't bother putting theme's on, Or downloading anything.

I recommend jailbreaking using Redsn0w 0.8. Have it just in case. A lot of people like to theme the device here, Which is a good advantage to jailbreaking. Others use the jailbreak to download Games, Toys, And tweaks through Cydia. Then there's the people who use it for cracked apps (Which I don't approve of).

Many things come good out of jailbreaking though. I would do it just in case you want to have something along the lines one day. I haven't had any problem jailbreaking yet (On my iPhone).

    I say do it!

    Advantages of Jailbreaking:

You can instiall themes, customize pretty much anything
    You can install games.

    Disadvantages of jailbreaking:

You have to take the time to do it.
    Your device becomes more vulnerable
    Your warranty might be voided
You could encounter problems and have to restore
Apple may not want to fix your iPhone / iPod Touch

I haven't jailbroken mine because fo those reasons exactly.

    I say NO

    1. Lol
    2. How so?
    3. DFU + restore leaves almost no traces of jailbreak.

I pretty much jailbroke my iPhone for a few of the apps from Cydia. Specifically, MCleaner, YourTube, SBSettings.

It's worth it; SBSsettings and YourTube are great add-ons to my phone.

I jailbroke my iPhone 3GS right away because it can handle a lot more then the 3G ever could.
I have a tremendous amount of extensions on my phone and themes but I just disable the ones I dont want until I want them..
For an example of what you can do on your JB phone..

Today I had a friend over and I was working on something on my computer while she was playing the Sims 3 on my iPhone but I kept getting texts so what I did was I used TreasonSMS to send and receive the SMS from FireFox on my laptop and she could just exit out of the SMS (BiteSMS for QuickReply) and I could reply on my computer. But the App kept quitting and she didnt know what to do so I used Veency and had that running on my comp to background The Sims 3 and run TreasonSMS again and allow me to talk to the people i was still having conversations with (yes I text a lot) while she played the game.

You can also theme, get rid of those stupid push notifications using GriP to put them in the corner, or get quick settings panels, and more
