    hi there.
3 days from now (my b-day) i hopeing to get my hands on a shiny new ipod touch (my homeButton broke on my 1G). i've been looking around at some prices. the 8GB 3G ipods are £150(149.99) and the old 2G is £140(139.99).
is there Any updates ATALL the 8GB 3G has? any processor ups, any Battery ups, anything atall. noone told me anything about updates. it say's updates on the apple website but if it hasn't got Voice control, what has it got?
if there is NO difference, why do people buy them. it's the same size as the old one (will beable to take the same accerories) so is there any point of me spending an extra £10 on nothing but a piece of text that says "3rd Generation".

also, does the 8GB 3G take voice control atall (put 3rd party headphones to it) or did apple take it away completely?

    Cheers for any replies

Nope, in fact, the battery has decreased by six hours.

    Price decrease.

    I believe it does, yes.

if you have a 1g, get a 32gb 3g, if you cant afford it, get a 8gb 2g, same as the 8gb 3g but it can be jailbroken and the battery lasts a little longer

Keep in mind that the 3rd Generation models will be able to be jailbroken. Eventually.

And yes, I would say that it is worth upgrading to a 3rd Gen.

The 3G is faster and supports openGL.

Even though I'm a 2G owner (which means that I would be mostly likely the one saying 'nah, it's not worth it, go 2G') there's really no point to buying a 2G over a 3G. Just get the 3G.

the price is a problem, and if you have a 2g it is not worth it

IF you have to get the 8GB, go for the 2G. They are exactly the same.

Also, regarding the battery; it will be decreased for all devices, since 3.1 'Requires more processing power than former version of iPhone OS.'

if you are aiming for an 8GB get the iPod touch 2G because it can be jailbroken...also some test show that the iPod touch 3G has slightly worse bass when listening through the external speaker(correct me if i am wrong and i said slightly worse)

the iPod touch 2G also has a better battery but then again 3.x.x firmware gets in the way and causes the battery to be decreased...
