Is it safe to check your mail on your Ipod Touch on unencrypted wifi networks (no password)? Does it use HTTPS to secure my username and password or can snoopers read my login information as plain text?

    (I use Gmail)

If your using an unencrypted wifi (no password needed) internet connection on a LAPTOP or COMPUTER, anyone (tech-saavy) can snoop what your doing online unless you are browsing websites that start with https.

So I was wondering if Ipod Touch "Mail" has this feature? Is it secure or unsafe to check your mail at free wifi hotspots?

iPhone OS supports SSL in Mail, so you should be fine.

If you're still worried, you could set it up to connect via Proxy.
