    Hi guys,

I've been waiting for a while now for a media manager to be released that allows me to sync music (and possibly movies) to my ipod touch 2.0 without having to use itunes.

If anyone knows of something I can use, please please please let me know!

    Thanks

Reports are that Amarok, a KDE Linux app, will do it elegantly.
    I've not tried it.
FWIW, there is a port of KDE 4 that runs on OS X.
I'd be interested to hear if Winamp is working in Windows; Nullsoft just released an updated iPod plugin.

I've checked out the new winamp ipod plugin but it doesn't support ipod 2.0. It just provides a warning that it's not possible to sync with ipod touch 2.0 just as Media Monkey does.

I'm using Windows and I've just had a look to see if it's possible to use Amarok on the OS. It looks like it might be possible but I don't think I'm technical enough to get it to work!

I also read that Amarok won't sync everything. Photos and album art, so I read. I never tried myself.

I've just tried installing Amarok on Windows following the guide I found, but after messing with it for ages, I couldn't even get Amarok to open!! Oh well!

Looks like my only option left (apart from using the awful itunes!) is to install Linux on my laptop and sync it there.

Thanks for your suggestions guys, especially Fluxam - now I know that I can sync using Amarok on linux

Honestly, what's so awful about iTunes?

Itunes seems to work pretty good especially with the new firmware. A lot faster syncing and backing up that's for sure. It does take some getting used to though especially if you're used to straight drag and drop copying straight onto a device.

iTunes is a major memory hog...Also it initializes bull sh*t like ipod control and stuff that amarok or media monkey do not even need.
