The soft update works, but it has some DRM issues...
I would update to 1.1.2 first or wait for a real jailbreak.

You can do it with new DevCon teams one, but apparently the DRM is broken in 1.1.1 so its recommended to update to 1.1.2, oktoprep than jailbreak, then jailbreak 1.1.4 without updating, the new firmware is included in the jailbreak. If you need the firmware for 1.1.2, google ipod firmware download, its the third one down.

i just saw some other threads that said if you try about ten times then it should work but if not then im sorry you'll either have to wait or do as the others above suggested

Let me refine this. You restore your iPod to 1.1.1, then you jailbreak it with AppSnapp, then you install Oktoprep, then you update to 1.1.2, and then you hard jailbreak with the Conceited Software's method.

Then, you "soft-upgrade" to 1.1.4 via iPodTouchMaster's method. Don't use DevCon's method as I've tried it twice and it just restarts the iPod continously...

    "DONT USE ZiPHONE ON 16GB"
you'll just get the major minor error till you force it into restore mode it's a waste of time

You don't have to restore. Just get into restore mode and use ZiPhone 2.5 to boot it back into Normal mode. All your Webclips, Music, Video, settings will be back to normal. As if you didn't ZiPhone at all.

I've done it dozens of times already
