Read one of the many downgrade guides in this forum section. So yes you can.

    Steps For Downgrading:

    1. Make sure you have iTunes up and running, and your iPod plugged in.

    2. Download the OS and save it somewhere u can find it.

    3. Once your ipod touch is recognized, and you have the OS downloaded and saved where you want it to be, put it into DFU mode.
    DFU MODE:
    - Hold the power and home buttons for 10 seconds. Your iPod should appear to shutoff.
    - Now release the power button and keep holding the home button. After a while you should hear a sound like your ipod is being recognized.

    4. You will Now see a pop up in iTunes about being in recovery mode. Click OK to get rid of it.

    5. Hold shift and click restore, then locate the OS you downloaded and hit open.

    6. Your screen will turn white for a few seconds that means its working.

    Your iPod is now downgraded!

This happens when you don't have the correct firmware/OS. You need to download the correct version for your "2G" iTouch.

Sorry, i can't help you there. I purchased my 3.0 firmware from iTunes, then upgraded to 3.1 and made backups for both firmwares for safe keeping. You never know when you will need them! Anyway, i did not get mine from any website BUT i would suggest google search or any ******* site if you wish to obtain the firmware without paying for your own license.

BTW, thank you for saying PLEASE! A lot of people are rude and demanding.
