Help! My parents won't let me jailbreak my iPad, so I need something to help me prove to them that I won't break it by Jailbreaking.

Well, if they won't let you, then don't. You are not missing out on much since there is practically nothing in Cydia that works flawlessly with the iPad without any major flaw. Except for Cydia itself and iFile.

So should I wait for 4.0 to come out?

Unless you seriously go in and start screwing around with stuff, no its perfectly safe. You can always go into DFU mode and restore it to its factory settings and it will be perfect again.

So as long as I put it into DFU I can't break it unless I do it physically.

No DFU mode would be the mode it would go into if it happened to brick on you. Once it goes into that mode you can just plug it into any computer with iTunes and restore it to it's factory default settings.

Coca cola knows a way to permanently break it. But just jailbreakibg you can't do it. You have to specifically try to or be trying to install android but since openiboot isn't ported to the iPad yet you can't break it.

I know I sound like a noob, but I keep hearing about Android, but I don't know what it is.

Android is another OS you can put on an iDevice. Currently you can't do it on an iPad so you don't need to worry about it
