Hi guys new here, just bought a 3rd gen 64gb ipod touch, and I really want to jailbreak it. But is it tethered? or has a stable jailbreak came out yet? If not do you guys think or know if one is one the way? So i understand with tethered it means having to re jailbreak everytime you turn your ipod back on. So you cannot turn your ipod off at all, or let the battery die? Therefore when traelling on long plane trip im screwed? So if it thats the case and everytime it turns off its un-jailbroken, when rejailbreaking does that mean u lose or your apps and emulators etc? How a big a deal is it to re jail break everytime you need to turn it off or batt dies. can some one shed some light on this for me thanks guys.

Yes, it is tethered but doesn't delete everything.

But why do you want to jailbreak?

If it is jailbroken it won't boot at all unless you run blackra1n.

When you reboot you won't lose all of your stuff.

i dont think it deletes anything, all you have to do is plug it into your computer and click make it rain (in blackra1n), but correct me if i'm wrong.

The same reason most people do. to get extra stuff and have the game emulators mostly.

Can anyone give me a detailed description of what has to be done and how it works. Thanks so much for your replies,.

There are guides on this site (in the Firmware 3.1 section).

Also, how long have you had your touch?

You jailbreak so you have access to apps, tools, and utilities that Apple won't allow in the app store. Like Catagories... Why someone can't come out with an app like that which Apple will approve and allow in the app store, I don't understand...

I just got a 3G iPod Touch (32 gig) and transferred all of my data to it. It isn't jailbroken yet and I have 7 pages of apps now. I only had two with my old jailbroken 1G running Catagories...

to add to jkk's question, there are many things that will (not may) go wrong when you jailbreak. be familar with fixing your ipod before you jailbreak, and make sure that you will not freak out when some things (software) stop working.
