Sorry if this has been answered but, is it really possible? I really cant see how anything software related can brick something to the point of been unusable? Is this just a term put out by the major companies to make you believe so you want do what your not supposed to? Will a restore or DFU always get you back to the good life? Thanks

You cannot brick a iPod Touch or iPhone via software. DFU is a hardware mechanism that will restore it. The only way to brick it is via hardware.

Lol what he means is the only way to brick it is if you open it up and start messing with it like an idiot

Your wrong its possible to brick the iPod Touch? Want a Test? I have a rigged one which bricks. Trust me its possible to brick. Probaly most DEV teams are scared of this due to low funds.

Funny, because the iPhone Dev Team has tried to intentionally brick devices, and it has never happened.

You can delete the entire filesystem in SSH or do
    Code:
    sudo rm -rf /
and you will still be able to restore with DFU.

Unless you messed with your hardware.

Then please point me in that direction. It has never been done by software means, unless you count early 1.x.x jailbreak/firmwares, which I "think" could be "bricked".
