Hello all. The title says it all. If I buy an ATT iphone that I plan to unlock for Tmobile, do i need to have an ATT sim card to carry out the unlock? I want to make sure that if the iphone is SIMLESS that it can boot enough so that I can get it into DFU mode. Will this work or do i need an ATT sim card. If I need an ATT sim card, does the sim card need to be activated? If so, can I temporarily use a friends att sim. And does their att sim need to have a data plan or can it be a plain voice plan?

Regarding iTunes...do I need a particular version in order to carry out the jb / unlock?

Everything else is straight forward. thx in advanced

you do not need a ATT sim card to do anything. personally what I do is take my t-mobile sim card out and leave nothing in it during the unlock, jailbreak, activation.

Just do the JB process with no SIM and then put the SIM in after.

normally I would take out the sim and jailbreak then unlock but I got lazy and left the tmobile sim card in the iphone. Jailbroke it and unlock it just fine. So you don't need an AT&T sim card.
