    Hi everyone,

So I'm trying to decide on whether or not I should sell my 2G 16GB ipod touch soon and wait for the 3G ipod touch (3G as in third gen, not 3G network).

The camera and mic don't really matter for me. Neither do the slightly upgraded specs. The biggest thing I'm taking into consideration is that people are saying they will drop the 8GB model, thus making:

    16 GB - $230
    32 GB - $300
    64 GB - $400

I would really like a 32GB ipod touch, especially at $300.

So what do you guys think? Do you think it's a possibility that a 32GB ipod touch will come out for $300? I'm hoping to get at least $250-275 from selling my current 2G ipod touch (I got it as a gift about a month ago so I can't return it, but it's 100% scratch free, jailbroken, and has a rebeltouch on it with all the included accessories).

    Thanks

That is what everyone is speculating. The price for flash memory drops as each year goes by. In 2007, a 16gb iPod Touch cost $400

To the guy below me, no that isn't how it works. Look to the previous Apple iDevices and their pricing trends...

highly doubt it.. u get a 16gb rite now for 300$ and theres no way its being dropped by 100$, especially with high demand and extra featured. my guess is 16gb might be around 300 and 32 around the 400 mark.
when they say there dropping prices, they mean around 10% is my guess

    In 2007, a 16GB was $400, and in 2008 it went down to $300?

That's pretty convincing. I'm pretty sure I'll just sell my 2G and hope for the best then

That is correct, because they released the 32gb version for $400 in Feb '08.

Memory goes up. Price goes down. The lowest memory eventually gets dropped.

yes, but as time goes on....
it'll start off very high though... way over 300.
in the start everyone gets excited and buys regardless the cost. onces it dies down, then they lower prices to get business again

    I think it's resonable.

    yeah sure but...

Think about all the posible upgrades the 3rd gen ipod touch s going to have

-a 600mhz cpu (maybe higher, remember ipod 2g is sligly faster than the iphone 3g)

-PowerVR SGX GPU upgrade (major gpu upgrade just like the 3gs)

    - mic, camera

    - and more specs speculations

    so just think that

400$ would be way to cheap for a 64gb ipod

i would be surprised if the sell
the ipod 64gb for 499$ (most likely the will)

    32gb will be around 399$

    again this are just speculations
Apple could well drop their prices if the zune hd turns out to be, a good product well priced by Microsoft (which it will)

edit: agreed, most likely the will drop 8gb ipod touch (maybe not)
