Is 3.0 free for 1G?

    i woke up today, a went to edit my theme for my ipod touch. i connected it to windows , itunes popped up with a message saying:

    new ipod update 3.0

    ok

    so i click ok and with no password, no authorization, 3.0 was downloading and installing on my ipod 1g?

    i don't know wht it did this?

    I guess you'll know if you have bluetooth. As for this notion that everyone's getting free 3.0 handouts from apple....I have no idea what is going on.

    why would it be paid on the Touch 2G and not on the first... that makes no sense. COMMON SENSE,

    Check your purchase history, you might have paid for it and not realised.

    A lot of people have been getting it free (including me) from iTunes for some reason. It shows in my purchase history as $0.00.



    @OP, your iPod's generation played no factor, you just got lucky.

    this happend to me in the 2.x days i got my 2g shipped with 1.x firmware and got the 2.x firmwares for free from itunes

    well, i did the same thing i did when i got the firmware 2.x for free on my ipt1g... which i accidently discovered... my device was in DFU mode... and i clicked restore, and itunes told me it was restoring to the firmware 3.0... at no charge... just lucky i guess... tried this with my bro's ipt1g, it told me it was restoring to 2.2.1...
