i installed mobile terminal-426 beta for ios4 and i wanted to check the clock speed of the A4 processor on my ipod touch 4g. i input the command sysctl -a hw.cpufrequency and this is what i get hw.cpufrecuncy=0 which is 1ghz. i read a sysctl log on the ipad which you can find here https://gist.github.com/356814/c0737f4e474b615bd155d81e986ebcabb31cd0f6 and the ipad is running at 1ghz and it has hw.cpufrecuncy=0.

Unfortunately, the iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 3G on 4.0 also report 0 if I recall correctly. What this means is only that Apple doesn't want you to know the true clockspeed, but based on benchmark, the iPod Touch 4 and iPhone 4 can be said to have a clockspeed around 700-800MHz. iPad is much faster than the both of them.

    I'd guess around 800MHz, as the 1G was 400 2G was 500? and the 3G was 600.
