    Yeah I'm still not sure, is the iPT2 that came with 3.1(.1) the equivalent of iPT3 for jailbreaks?

    pretty much. Preloaded "2G" 8gb's are essientially the 3G ipod touch.

    Yes, the new iPod Touch 8gb cannot be downgraded and therefore cannot and this point in time be jailbroken. With the release of greenpois0n it will be, or anything else that doesn't require 3.0 jailbroken, but pwnagetool does require a downgrade.

    When a jailbreak tool that doesn't require a downgrade comes out, I guess we'll find out. At that point I'm really not sure, but atm I'm treating it as a 3g.

    Haven't you made another thread on this?

    .. o_o;
    The iPod Touch 2G, 8GB Model is still the old iPod Touch 2G.
    If you purchased a 32GB, or 64GB Model recently,
    Then you have the 3G.

    There are many threads confirming this,

    Oh, wow.
    Two posts before I could post.

    Yeah but the new 8gig 2g that came preloaded with 3.1 cannot be downgraded like the 2g's so technically some call it the 2.5 or 3g because of that. So you shouldn't just dismiss the guy because there are many threads also confirming what i said as well.

    It's succeptible to jailbreak using the same exploit as always, 24kpwn. But rather than update 24kpwn people are working the newer exploit for all devices for ease of use

    It's not the 3rd Generation iPod Touch, it's a slightly updated version of the older 2nd Generation iPod Touch. The ONLY 3rd Gen iPod Touch's are the 32gb and the 64gb.

    This thread is about being in the same boat for jailbreak, not having the same features

    Just because the iPod can't be downgraded,
    Doesn't make it a 2.5, Or a 3.0

    It makes it an Un-Downgradeable iPod Touch 2G.

    The only official iPod Touch 3G's are the 64GB, And 32GB.
