Ok first of all the itouch is a a great piece of equepment.
Now the wifi adaptor in it lets you browse the net and download stuff
but if your sitting some where on the street and you decide to see if theres any wi fi connections around they are all password protected most of them and you cant crack the WEP ,WPA,WPA2 key because there not applet to do so on the ipodtouch you could guess the password.

When you buy a router it comes with a default password "Admin" in most causes.

    Using this site www.routerpasswords.com/
you can get the default passwords set by factory default

There are Some people out there that cant be f***ed to change the password leaving there network unprotected.

I might be totally wrong here, because we cant have wifi at my uni so I havent seen the wifi on the iPod in a while, but doesn't it just say "DLink" in which case, I will not know which "DLink" they are using?

    What?

The website just gives you the initial default passwords

    for routers such as DLINK

well yes, but then you would have to scroll through all the DLink ones and try out each one because you don't know the model that the person is using... that is, if my speculation is correct which I said I'm not sure of

yea well clearly hes asking how the average person would know what brand and model of router is which unless you were looking directly at it you wouldn't know and people don't just have their routers sitting in the middle of a public place so this isn't overly helpful

but really how many different routers are there in the world? so u just plan to sit there plugging in all of the default passwords and usernames until you find one that works?

    good luck with that then

And why would this be an "iPod touch Wifi thing they don't want you to know"?

This is standard for every router sold. Almost everyone knows this.
