So i have a jailbroken ipodtouch 4.1 firmware (4th gen),
and i dont plan on using winterboard,
    so i was wondering:
    1) Are there any apps to directly edit the status bar ? Or any methods ? (I want to change the semi transparent status bar to a more opaque black) [ and btw i only want this to be black on the home screen and the lock screen)
    2) Any way to set the lock slider as transparent (as in you cant see it, but it can still be used)

    ~ Thanks in advance

You would have to change the original files
    This is highly unrecommended

Cant do the mods without winterboard unless you can edit the .artwork files. Pretty sure you can't, people have tried. alot. So get winterboard.

The theme is permanent. Unless you happened to backup all the files that you used on your computer, since you can't ask for any of those images on iptf without getting banned/warned, so use winterboard. You manually SSH all those images into the correct paths on your ipod.

    IT. IS. PERMANENT.

This is a huge misconception that many people believe in... Winterboard doesn't eat your battery it uses RAM. RAM has to be powered and using less or more RAM doesn't change your battery life at all. Slowing of your iPod is only if you have live wallpapers and such. Winterboard requires a respring which means that it won't "slow" your iPod...

No the theme does not stay.
