    Here's what you do.
    1. Plug in your iPod to the computer via USB.
    2. Open iTunes.
    3. Go into your iPod tab.
    4. Click on "Restore".

Wait for your iPod to restore, and re-jailbreak your iPod.

all buttons work ok. the only solution i found was to hold the hold button and home together to force shut down. holding the hold button itself did nothing.would restoring the ipod delete everything? apps music, videos?

Yes, but you can transfer your files to iTunes. And I'm guessing most or all of your music is saved in iTunes. Anything that's in iTunes will not be deleted though.

Because it just puts your iPod into DFU mode when you upgrade and jailbreak. It doesn't restore it.
