Please search the forum. No need to add the 200th DFU mode not working thread.

    Go to smellmysock.com/dfu.html
That should help you with timing and stuff.
If it still doesn't work, take it to Apple.

You've got to be kidding me. You must not know how to search, then. Or read. Because the forum is completely littered with those kind of posts.

Hi! I've had same problem but now finally solved. What I had was that every time i put the Touch in DFU mode, iTunes would come up and say that the iPod is in restore mode but the JB program (Redtool, Voltage and CywOOd were the ones I used) was not able to see the ipod was in DFU (redtool was the best - check on the bottom of the screen that shows you how to DFU, it says "attempting connection" and then "ipod disconnected or turned off"). My assumption was that the fact I'm using Vista 64 caused the problem, I think I was correct.
What happened was that while iTunes could recognize the iPod, other programs were not able to communicate with it. I've had the LIBUSB installed (thats the program that allows the computer communicate with the iPod) but I think it was not working properly because LIBUSB is a 32bit program.
If you think you might have the same problem, the solution was simply applying LIBUSB FIX for vista 64. You can look for it or ask me and I'll upload it. Really a bunch of fairly simple steps reboot computer and voila! (I'm not an end user, probably considered a newb
