Please help, my Ipod Touch 2nd Gen. NOT Jailbroked along with my sisters' Ipod (same thing)won't sync to itunes. I've read about the solution posted everywhere about usbaapl, but I have problems at some of the steps. I am running Windows Vista.

    1. No problems.
    2. I can only find a usbaapl64, don't know if it still works, and find it under WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/DRIVERS.
    3. I find my Ipod as "Apple Ipod," but its not under imagining devices. It is under portable devices.
    4. Can someone give me more detailed instructions for this step.

Just delete device with drivers in device manager, unplug it and plug again. I'm sure this time Windows will find appropriate driver (had the same issue on my work PC some time ago).

I tried uninstalling it and then plugged it in, but it is picked up as the same thing. Thank for the help anyways, does anyone know what to do I know this is a common problem.

put it in recovery mode then see if itunes recognises it. If so, restore it.

What drivers does it actually use? Look at drivers tab in device properties.
Maybe specifying correct driver manually would help.

First of all I tried to restore it however it wouldn't restore in itunes. It would be picked up, but then kicked and the restore wouldn't go through. As for what drive its under, there is a list of WINDOWS/SYSTEM32/DRIVERS when I tried to fiddle with it. Its not my Ipod as I've said before my sisters' ipod touch 2nd gen won't work either.

Its Def your Computer thats the problem.
How about Plugging your iPod into another computer and see if that works...

I did and it is picked up. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes for a number of times and nothing.
One other thing is my ipod will be detcted if I connect my ipod to my computer and turn it off and then on. However it won't restore to the latest backup giving me -19 error. Also if I choose new ipod it won't sync saying it can't be read.

Deleting iTunes and installing it again doesn't uninstall Apple Mobile Device Support. Drivers are a part of this package. Just open iTunes distrib with an archiver (WinRAR, 7zip), extract AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi and reinstall it.
And you haven't said, what drivers are installed for your device.
