Device Firmware Upgrade. its basically a deeper version of recovery

hold the power and home buttons for exactly 10 seconds. then release the power button but keep holding home until itunes pops up with the ipod. make sure youre connected to the computer while doing this.

then just click restore and it should work

    connect ipod to computer.
    turn it off.
hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds.
Release the power button and hold the home button for another 10 seconds.
Now your computer should say something about: new device connected (apple DFU) and your ipod screen should be black as if it is still turned off or just locked.

    EDIT:
    You were too fast!
